Controversy in Majuli as video of moral police punishing a woman goes viral

August 20, 2018: In yet another incident of moral police in Assam, a woman has been allegedly punished by moral police in Majuli for having an extra-marital affair.
The shocking incident took place in Majuli’s Luit-Khabolu region a couple of days ago, but the incident came to light when a video regarding the same became viral.
Reportedly, the woman was in love with a youth of the same village and was punished by a group of people. They made her crawl on her knees while some recorded it.
After the video went viral, controversy has aroused in the region as people are coming forward and criticizing the act of moral police.
