US-Bangla Airlines plane crashes at Kathmandu airport in Nepal

March 12, 2018: A US-Bangla Airlines passenger plane carrying 71 people crashed on Monday while it was landing at Kathmandu airport in Nepal.


Reportedly, the plane which had 67 passengers and four crew members onboard which was reportedly travelling from Dhaka, slipped off the runway as it was landing and fell down a slope, sliding for about 300 metres before it stopped at a football pitch.
As per reports at least 38 people had been killed and 23 injured, while 10 people were not accounted for. Death toll might rise, as per sources.
The Nepal Army has been pressed into rescue operations and the airport has been closed.
US-Bangla Airlines is a unit of the US-Bangla Group, a U.S. Bangladeshi joint venture company. The Bangladeshi carrier launched operations in July 2014 and operates Bombardier Inc and Boeing aircraft.
