December 10, 2017: Actress Zaira Wasim who rose to fame with the film "Dangal" has been allegedly molested on the flight of Air Vistara. The 17-year-old actor who was last seen in the film "Superstar" was on her way to Mumbai from Delhi when the abhorrent incident took place.

As per Zaira's allegations she was molested on the flight by a middle-aged man sitting right behind her who had initially put up his feet on her armrest. When she objected, the man reportedly claimed he was resting his feet due to “turbulence”. To her horror, he allegedly started caressing her neck while she was asleep. She even tried to record the harassment when she felt his hand, but couldn’t as the lights were dim.

After landing in Mumbai she took to Instagram to share the horrific incident. As per reports, using Instagram Stories, she shared a picture of the man’s foot, which was rested on her arm-rest. After that, Zaira explained her ordeal with texts.

She wrote, “The lights were dimmed, so it was even worse. It continued for another 5-10 minutes and then I was sure of it. He kept nudging my shoulder and continued to move his foot up and down my back and neck.” She continued, ” So, I was in a flight travelling from Delhi to Mumbai today and right behind me one middle-aged man who made my 2-hour journey miserable. I tried to record it on phone to understand it better because the cabin lights were dimmed, I failed to get it.”

Zaira also expressed her disappointment at Vistara’s cabin crew stating that she got no help from the flight crew even on complaining. While in a statement issued later, Vistara said it was carrying a “detailed investigation” and expressed support for Zaira.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra State Commission for Women chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, describing the incident as “shameful”, demanded an inquiry into why the cabin crew did not come to Zaira Wasim’s aid.

As per reports, the Civil Aviation Ministry and Aviation watchdog DGCA have sought details from Air Vistara over the incident and is probing on the matter.

This incident has indeed raised questions on women's safety in the country.
