Shahrukh Khan inaugurates International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2017 in Goa

The 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was inaugurated yesterday by Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan Goa midst much fanfare alongwith Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar sharing the platform together.

The Festival’s opening film was Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds.

This nine days fest will showcase the much acclaimed films from across the globe.

As per the official programme list, the festival will be showcasing 195 films from over 82 countries of which there will be 10 World Premieres, 10 Asian and International premieres and over 64 Indian premieres.

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was first held in 1952 with the participation of 23 countries globally.

After the inaugural edition which was held at Bombay, the festival over the years was held at Madras, Delhi, Calcutta and Trivandrum before it found its permanent home in Goa in 2004 under the stewardship of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
