Snapdeal & 3 other e-commerce websites issued notices for selling wildlife items

India’s one of leading online marketplace ‘Snapdeal’ has been served notices by the Madhya Pradesh Tiger Strike Force on charges of selling wildlife related items online.

Along with Snapdeal, India Mart, Wish and Buy and Craft Comparison have also been issued notices on the same crime.

Two persons, Sumit Sharma and Firoz Ali have been arrested by the police in connection with selling of wildlife items in those online websites under the Wild Life Protection Act.

They were running a company ‘Shubh Bhakti’, MP’s capital city Indore's Vijay Nagar. And in June last the tiger strike force confiscated items such as 'hattha-jodi' and 'siyar-singhi' (used in black magic) made out of wild animals' limbs from the duo arrested.

During Police interrogation, the accused told that they were into trading of puja (worship) materials and are also into sale of wildlife related items"through portals like - Snapdeal, India Mart, Wish and Buy, and Craft Comparison. .

The duo said that they sold these products like 'hattha-jodi' in a large quantity to people at a high price.
