Supreme Court directs Subrata Roy of Sahara to deposit Rs 1,500 Crore by September 7

 The Sahara Chief Subrata Roy, who has been in jail for last two years, but on parole since May 6, 2016 has been directed by the Supreme Court on Tuesday to deposit Rs 1,500 crore in the Securities and Exchange Board of India refund account before September 7.

Sahara needs to pay an amount of Rs 10,000 crore – partly in cash and the remaining in the form of bank guarantees – to get bail for Roy and two other directors who are currently in jail.

Till now, Subrata Roy has deposited Rs 1,500 crore, and another Rs 9,000 crore remains.

The bench, headed by Justice Deepak Misra also asked the Bombay High Court’s official liquidator to proceed with the auction of properties at Sahara’s Aamby Valley worth Rs 34,000 crore in order to recover the money.
