July 21, 2017: Harmanpreet Kaur played one of the great innings in Women’s World Cup’s semi-final on Thursday. India beat Australia by 36 runs and reached the ICC Women’s World Cup final, which will be played on Sunday against hosts England.

Kaur scored an unbeaten 171 from just 115 deliveries, smashing 20 fours and seven sixes to leave the six-time winners shell-shocked as they were bowled out for 245 with two overs remaining.

Harmanpreet completed her century from 90 balls, adding 71 runs from her next 25 deliveries. She raised a blistering 137-run fourth-wicket partnership with Deepti Sharma, who scored 25. Veda Krishnamurthy scored 16 not out help India raise a formidable total in the end.

A final-wicket stand of 76 between Alex Blackwell (90) and Kristen Beams (11 not out) added some respectability to the margin of defeat, but it masked a hugely disappointing performance.

Aside from Blackwell, a fine 75 from Elyse Villani and 38 from Ellyse Perry, no other player scored more than 14, with Lanning falling for an eight-ball duck in a rare failure with the bat.
