The Haryana government would soon introduce buses in Gurugram city that runs on electricity.

This initiative is mainly to promote a healthy pollution free environment and also reduce fuel expenses.

The buses would be at par with those that are plying in Poland.

The Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Kavita Jain who, along with the members of a delegation, visited the plant of JBM Solaris Electric Vehicles Limited in Poland on Tuesday said this in a statement.

In the first phase, around 75 to 100 such electric buses would be introduced in the city.

The introduction of these electric buses will save around 4.25 lakh litres of diesel and reduce carbon emissions by 1,150 tonnes in the next 10 years.

50 percent of the total cost of the project will be borne by Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority while Municipal Corporation of Gurugram will invest 40 percent of the amount and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation would bear 10% of the cost of the project.
