According to a report by OpenSignal, the 4G speed in India is 3 times lower than the world average, and ranks even below Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Although India has risen to the 15th position in 4G availability in the world, but the average download speed is 5.1 Mbps, which is less than one-third of the global average and just a little higher than the average global 3G speed of 4.4 Mbps.

The global average 4G download speed was 16.2 Mbps.

Also with increasing traffic, the download speeds in the country have declined over one megabit per second in the last six months.

India, ranked 74th out of 75 countries, came below Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and just ahead of Costa Rica in terms of speed.

"But while signals may be plentiful in India, capacity isn't. India has some of the slowest LTE speeds in the world," the report added.
