Feb 17, 2017: The ace badminton player of India, PV Sindhu attained her career best BWF (Badminton World Federation) women’s singles ranking, jumping to the fifth spot, on Wednesday. Sindhu, with 69399 points, overtook Japan's Akane Yamaguchi (68149) to attain her career best ranking.

Saina Nehwal, who is ranked ninth, is the second Indian in the top 10 spots of the BWF rankings, which is headed by Tai Tzu Ying of the Chinese Taipei.
Sindhu's rise comes on the back of a stellar 2016, when she became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal in Rio. She also won her maiden Superseries title in China last November, before going down in the finals of the Hong Kong Open.
Last month, Sindhu clinched the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships in Lucknow, helping her jump to sixth in the rankings on February 2.
