Usain Bolt wins Laureus sportsman of the year award and confirmed his retirement from athletics in August 2017

Feb 15, 2017: The Jamaican sprint champion Usain Bolt confirmed that he will retire after the 2017 World Championships scheduled to take place between August 5-13 in London. The 30-year-old sprinter, who won the top prize for a man at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco on Tuesday night, said he has accomplished everything he wants to in athletics. This was the fourth time that Bolt has won the award after 2009, 2010 and 2013, levelling Swiss tennis superstar Roger Federer’s record.

Bolt's incredible career will end at the 2017 World Championships with eight Olympic gold medals and as an 11-time World Champion.
