Delhi Police ‘crack’ Soumya Vishwanathan’s murder case

TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan murder case after interrogating three persons in connection with the murder of another young woman IT executive Jigisha Ghosh, who was strangled to death a few days back in the national capital.

According to police sources, four persons of a gang were involved in the killings, out of which three have been arrested while one is still “missing”. The three accused confessed to their involvement in the murder of both the women.

According to Ajai Kashyap, Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range), “The police said that road rage, molestation, theft could be the motive behind the murder.”

The police also claimed to have recovered the murder weapon and some vehicles. The accused have been identified as Ravi, Baljeet, Amit and Ajay.

Ravi Kapoor is said to be the kingpin of the gang and according to police, he was the one who shot at Soumya. He has several cases against him.

The police are expected to hold a press conference later in the day. Also, those arrested would likely be produced before a court this afternoon

Soumya, who worked as a producer with a news channel, was shot dead on September 30, 2008 while she was returning home in her car.

The incident occurred at around 03:30 hrs.

Her car was found rammed into the divider on Nelson Mandela Road. Her body was in the driver's seat and there was a bullet in her head.

There were signs of a struggle in the car and one tyre was found punctured and a bullet was recovered from it.
