All party delegation to meet Chidambaram

The all-party delegation from Assam who are presently camping in the Delhi will meet Union Home Minister P Chidambaram later this afternoon to discuss the border fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh international border and the terrorist camps on Bangladesh soil. The all-party delegation is expected to impress upon the Union Home Minister to put pressure on Dhaka for stern action against the camps of north-east militants on Bangladesh soil. Earlier, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee had assured the all party delegation to complete the construction of the Indo-Bangladesh border fencing work along Assam by March 2010 after an eleborate meeting in New Delhi on Thursday(Jan 29).The all party delegation met external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee to apprise him about the delay in completion of the fencing work along Assam's border with Bangladesh, besides highlighting the issue of infiltration. The external affairs minister assured the delegation that the fencing work would be completed by March 2010 and also pledged to take all measures to stop influx of Bangladeshi migrants into Assam. The delegation was led by Assam Assembly Speaker Tanka Bahadur Rai, forest minister Rockybul Hussain, social welfare minister Ajanta Neog, Congress MLA Robin Bordoloi, besides opposition leaders like AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary, Mission Ranjan Das of the BJP and CPI leader Dhrupad Borgohain.
