Eminent poet Nalinidhar Bhattacharya passes away

Sep 2, 2016- Eminent Poet and literary critic Nalinidhar Bhattacharya breathed his last early Friday morning due to prolonged illness. Honoured with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002 for his collection of literary works — Mahat Oitijhya, Bhattacharya was born on December 4, 1921 at Meleng Kathgaon in Jorhat. Bhattacharya also received the Assam Valley Literary Award in 2006. The eminent litterateur began his career as a teacher in Kakojan High School. He also served as a lecturer at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong from 1960 to 1963 and Arya Vidyapeeth College. Bhattacharya retired from the same college in 1983.
His works include collection of Assamese poems — Ai Kuwoli (1979), Charshalir Malita (1983), Aahot Xapun (1983), Noni Asone Ghorot and Biday Phulor Din (2002).
