Nov 27, 2015- Targeting the impending 2016 state assembly, BJP national President Amit Shah sounded the poll bugle in the state on Friday.

The national president arrived at the LGBI airport this morning and is scheduled attend a party rally in Dibrugarh late afternoon. Shah met top brass of the state BJP unit before leaving for Dibrugarh. State BJP President Sarbananda Sonowal, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma besides other senior party leaders accompanied the national president to the rally. The BJP national President was accorded a warm welcome at the Mohanbari airport in Dibrugarh by party workers and well wishers. Shah's upcoming visit is significant so far as setting the direction and boosting the morale of party workers in the state is concerned. Post the Bihar poll drubbing, the Saffron Party has put all its energy in Assam to ensure that the saffron party wrest power from Congress in 2016.

Addressing party workers, the BJP national president launching a scathing attack at the Congress stated that corruption became rampant in the state during its reign. He further said that the state government had failed miserably in submitting utilization certificates for over Rs 12,000 crore central funds for which the Centre has halted allotting funds to the state. Shah also dared Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to submit utitlisation certificates for the last 15 years. Speaking on grounds of illegal migrants in the state Shah held the state government’s apathy responsible for the menace. He further expressed concerns if the much speculative Congress-AIUDF alliance would be able to make the state free of illegal migrants. Shah assured that the Saffron Party would make the state free of illegal migrants if voted to power in the upcoming 2016 assembly elections.

On the other hand State BJP President Sarbananda Sonowal taking a dig at Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said in an attempt to cover the failures of the government the chief minister resorted to criticizing the Saffron Party. Sonowal revealing further plans for the state said that the BJP had chalked out a plan to build 5 more bridges over the Brahmaputra. Adding further, Sonowal said the party would look into the matter of granting ST status to 6 communities of the state.
