Nov 26, 2015- On the occasion of India's first Constitution Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the document is a ray of hope for the country.
"Our Constitution is a ray of hope: H for harmony, O for opportunity, P for people's participation and E for equality," Modi told reporters outside Parliament which is holding a special two-day session to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of India's Constitution.
In a series of tweets this morning, Modi greeted India on Constitution Day and saluted Dr Ambedkar for his stellar contribution. The constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on this day in 1949 and came into force on January 26, 1950, which became the country's Republic Day.

The month-long winter session of Parliament begins on Thursday. It is expected to be stormy with the opposition planning to corner the government on 'intolerance' and other issues.
