Posted on: 18-06-2009 , 04:: | DY365 Bureau

Another round of talks between workers of Air India and its management to discuss the demands of the employees failed to achieve a breakthrough on Wednesday.

"Nothing positive came out of the meeting today as the airline management was adamant in not taking back the sacked employees," Pramod Kumar, general secretary of Indian Airlines Limited-Airport Services Limited Employees Union, told agency.

The conciliation process took place in the presence of Central Labour Commissioner and Assistant Labour Commissioner, who when asked the airlines on taking back the terminated employees, the Air India officials did not gave a positive response, he said.

Nearly 300 contractual security and commercial staff of Air India at Delhi, Amritsar and other centres went on strike from June 1 demanding better pay package, medical and other benefits.

The strike was withdrawn on June 10 after the Chief Labour Commissioner assured them of positive steps by the airline management.

The Air India Management, taking a strong step against the stir, had terminated the contract of 21 workers on the first day of the strike. And later, 22 others were also terminated.
