Bannu: Gunmen attacked the Old City Police Station of Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa on Monday morning, police said. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan militant group have claimed responsibility for the attack in which four gunmen were killed, including two after detonating suicide vests. Police held a fifth attacker following the assault, which began at around 9:45 am and lasted for around three hours. According to reports, at least one officer has been killed. Police official Zeenatullah Khan said police had cordoned off the building and exchanged fire with the attackers. Pakistani Taliban fighters broke into a prison in the city in April and freed close to 400 prisoners, including 20 who were considered dangerous insurgents.
